In the late 2000s, police became aware of allegations of sexual abuse of children, but Watkins was ultimately not arrested until 2012, though this was due to drug-related suspicions. However, once his home and belongings were searched, the police quickly pivoted to an investigation of child sex abuse. He was ultimately hit with 24 separate sex offense-related charges, including attempting to rape a fan’s baby, sexual contact with a one-year-old, and charges related to his filming and possession of child sex abuse. He was ultimately sentenced to 29 years in prison, where he has been ever since.
